On those days when you just need to whisk or mix up one little thing (like mayonnaise for a sandwich!), it can be annoying to have to set up — and clean up — a food processor or large blender and all its attachments. My solution? Investing in one of the best immersion blenders, an efficient and easy-to-use small kitchen gadget that I’m always reaching for.

For those quick tasks, Meggan and I would much rather use an immersion blender to blend, mix, puree, or whip ingredients directly in a pot, glass, or bowl. We love that you don’t need to transfer your anything to another bowl, eliminating the amount of cleanup you have at the end!
Ahead, check out our top picks for the best immersion blenders, including Meggan’s all-time favorite from Vitamix!

Reviews of The Best Immersion Blenders
1. What’s In Meggan’s Kitchen: Vitamix Immersion Blender
Meggan (also known around here as The Smoothie Queen!) absolutely loves her Vitamix Immersion Blender. She’s found that it’s replaced bigger, bulkier products like food processors and blenders while still doing just as good of a job with less hassle.
“I got my Vitamix several years ago and I love it because it’s just as powerful, sturdy, and easy to clean as the company’s standard blenders,” she said. “It’s only 2 pieces, so it comes apart easily to clean but it still offers great performance and works like a dream!”
Although this Vitamix model is a bit more expensive than other brands, it’s a quality product. The wand is ergonomically designed for both left-and right-handed cooks, while its one-handed operation is easy to manage while using your free hand to add ingredients. Its 625-watt motor gives this handheld blender enough power and durability to handle large batches and whole ingredients without overheating, and it even has five different speeds to create salad dressings, sauces, baby food, smoothies, and dips in about one minute!
The heat-safe shield at the bottom keeps nonstick cookware away from the blades and safe from damage, which means you can use this right over a pot without the need for extra mixing bowls. And the wand fits inside any container with a 3-inch wide (or larger) opening, including a 1-quart wide-mouth Mason jar for a single serving of one of Meggan’s smoothies (this Peach Smoothie is a current favorite!).
The Specs:
- Power: 625 watts
- Weight: 2.86 lbs
- Number of Speeds: 5
- Accessories: None
What I Like:
- Easy, one-handed button controls
- Easy twist lock assembly
- Safe for nonstick cookware and metals

The Vitamix Immersion Blender has a 4.8-star rating from more than 4,300 reviews on Amazon. The Spruce Eats also named it the most powerful immersion blender in their roundup of the best.

2. Most Versatile Immersion Blender: Ninja Foodi Power Mixer System
The base of this Ninja immersion blender serves as a power hub for multiple accessories so you can easily switch it from a standard bowl mixer to an immersion blender. (It’s kind of like how a battery powers various power tools such as drills or saws!) This makes it an excellent choice for kitchens with limited space and cooks with limited patience for clutter.
Because it’s detachable, you can use it to blend hot ingredients directly in pots or pans for smooth vegetable soups and purees. Meanwhile, the included beaters transform it into a hand mixer for mixing cookie dough, cake batter, or yummy homemade whipped cream! All components, including the blending arm and accessories, are dishwasher-safe for easy cleanup.
The Specs:
- Power: 750 watts
- Weight: 3.17 lbs
- Number of Speeds: 7
- Accessories: Dough hook, beater, whisk
What I Like:

3. Also Great: Breville Control Grip Immersion Blender
Breville’s Control Grip Immersion Blender is touted by buyers for its user-friendly design and consistent performance. It features unique anti-suction technology, which means less liquid spilling out of your bowl since it’s suctioned to the table. There’s also an ergonomic rubber trigger grip to give your hand a non-slip and natural position, making it easier to blend.
It comes with the main mixer wand, a chopper bowl and blade combo, a whisk with a geared base, and a 42-ounce mixing jug. The chopper bowl has a top that clips to the handgrip and a removable blade that sits near the bottom of the bowl on a stem, so it’s on the more lightweight side, too. The jug can also house the chopping bowl, which makes it easy to store.
The Specs:
- Power: 280 watts
- Weight: 4.1 lbs
- Number of Speeds: 15
- Accessories: 3-cup chopper bowl, blender, extra-large jug with lid and storage mat, whisk attachment

4. Best Attachments: Braun MultiQuick 9
The Braun MultiQuick 9 excels in versatility thanks to its wide range of high-quality attachments. Whether you need to blend, chop, whisk, or mash, this immersion blender can do it all. The attachments include a blending wand, whisk, masher for creamy potatoes, and a 2-cup chopper with an ice crush knife.
A standout feature is its innovative blending wand, equipped with a flexible shaft that adjusts up and down at the press of a button, allowing for better reach on the sides and more thorough blending in any bowl or pitcher. The blender has an active blade, meaning you can move the blade up and down while blending to reach deeper into a pan and increase circulation. You can also make the most of the splash control technology, which cuts down on suction and, therefore, reduces the risk of splashing when blending wet ingredients for soups and smoothies.
There is also a safety feature that requires you to first press down on the top section of the handle before pressing the trigger to keep little fingers safe. But it also makes it hard for kids to work.
The Specs:
- Power: 700 watts
- Weight: 2 lbs
- Number of Speeds: 3
- Accessories: Blending wand, whisk, puree masher, 20 oz beaker, 2-cup chopper with ice crusher
What I Like:
- Powerful motor
- 3 controlled power ranges (low, high and pulse)

It comes with an 8″ removable stainless steel blending arm with a 4-point blade design, which means it’s great at conquering all different kinds of textures. You also get a removable pan guard and a beaker, all of which are safe for popping in the dishwasher post-meal.

The Hamilton Beach 4-in-1 Electric Immersion Hand Blender is a solid pick if you’re on a budget. At less than $50, you receive different attachments like a whisk, chopping bowl, and a blending cup. The blender itself boasts an ergonomic handle that ensures a comfortable grip during extended blending sessions, while the one-touch control means that it’s a total breeze to use. Switching between attachments is quick and hassle-free, too, allowing you to transition seamlessly from blending to chopping or whisking.
Its compact and lightweight design makes it easy to store, so people with smaller kitchens don’t have to worry about it taking up too much space. It’s an excellent choice if you’re looking for something cost-effective and versatile, but it’s not great for huge jobs like meal prepping since some reviewers report that the motor can start to get a little toasty.

Other Immersion Blenders to Consider
All-Clad Immersion Blender
It’s great that this All-Clad immersion blender has an extra-long driveshaft that reaches into deep bowls and pots, and we like its powerful motor that cranks out food quickly. However, it’s expensive for an immersion blender that doesn’t come with any attachments. The All-Clad Immersion Blender is available at Amazon for $119.95.
Bella Immersion Hand Blender
The plastic body of this hand blender feels a bit flimsy and with just two speeds, it falls behind other models for power and versatility. The small motor has to work too hard and, according to buyers, can smell hot after just a few seconds of use. The Bella Immersion Hand Blender is available at Amazon for $21.26.
Cuisinart Smart Stick Hand Blender
Its stainless steel body makes this Cuisinart pick feel sturdy and durable and it does great with a range of tasks like emulsifying or crushing ice. The accessories are a plus, with a 3-cup chopper/grinder, a chef’s whisk, and a 2-cup mixing/measuring cup, but the different power and lock buttons are confusing to use and take a while to get used to. The Cuisinart Smart Stick Hand Blender is available at Amazon for $50.99.
Nutribullet Immersion Blender
The price tag for this immersion blender with a whisk is great! But it takes a long time to puree and it has a lot of trouble crushing ice, while the suctioned bottom can make it unpredictable and cause unnecessary messes. The Nutribullet Immersion Blender is available at Walmart for $21.59.
Why You Can Trust Us
Hi! I’m Belle, an award-winning content creator and an adjunct professor who works in restaurant PR in the Midwest. My writing and on-camera work can be seen on the Better Homes & Gardens and HGTV websites.
To create this list of the very best immersion blenders, Culinary Hill founder Meggan and I sat down to chat about which models she and I have used and what we love most about them. I then researched highly recommended brands and read through hundreds of online reviews to find the best immersion blenders that others love. From there, we compared them side by side and rated them on performance, ease of use, and overall value to come up with our list of the best immersion blenders.
Everything to Know Before Buying an Immersion Blender
What to Consider Before Buying an Immersion Blender
When considering the best immersion blender, there are a few things to take into account. Here are the key points Meggan says you should think about:
- Power: More powerful models can handle tougher blending tasks, so look for something with a higher wattage.
- Durability: Look for models with stainless steel blades and sturdy construction. Plastic bodies can wear down faster and won’t be as durable.
- Number of Speeds: Multiple speed options allow for precise control over blending intensity to suit a variety of tasks, from gently pureeing delicate foods to vigorously blending thicker mixtures.
- Attachments: Additional attachments can expand the functionality of the blende. With more attachments, you’re getting a bigger bang for your buck, especially if it can replace other kitchen appliances in your space.
What is an Immersion Blender?
If you’re wondering what an immersion blender is and how it’s different from other types of blenders, we’ve got you covered.
An immersion blender, also known as a hand blender or stick blender, is a handheld kitchen appliance with a handheld motor and a rotating blade at the end.It can be used directly in the container where your ingredients are (think a mixing bowl, stockpot on the stove, or a Dutch oven) instead of something like a KitchenAid stand mixer that has its own special bowl. In this way, it’s more similar to a hand mixer, just with more versatility.
What Are Some Immersion Blender Uses?
Here are some of Meggan’s favorite ways to use her immersion blender!
- Blending hot soups directly in the pot
- Making smoothies in a serving glass or mixing jug
- Pureeing baby food
Some models also come with a whisk attachment for whipping cream or beating eggs, and are ideal for making emulsified sauces like mayonnaise or salad dressings.
How Do You Use an Immersion Blender?
The best immersion blenders are super easy to use! Just insert an immersion blender into a pot or bowl to puree foods instead of transferring food to a blender or food processor. Start on slow, and then slowly increase speed as desired. It’s nice to be able to blend without moving or pouring steaming hot food around.
Here are some safety tips to consider:
- Avoid Overfilling: Don’t overfill the container, as this can cause spills and make blending less effective.
- Beware of Hot Liquids: If you’re blending hot soups or liquids, allow them to cool slightly to avoid splattering and burns.
- Keep the Blade Submerged: Always keep the blade submerged while the blender is running to prevent splattering.
Do You Need an Immersion Blender?
An immersion blender is a valuable tool if you frequently prepare soups, smoothies, purees, and sauces, or if you want a versatile, space-saving, and easy-to-clean appliance. We like it because we can blend, puree, chop, and whisk food quickly, and then toss the attachments right into the dishwasher without feeling like we had to put a ton of work into it.
However, if your cooking routine doesn’t require these tasks often, or if you already have a traditional blender or food processor that you love, you might be able to get away without buying an immersion blender.
